We lowered the intensity of our workouts over Christmas break. Ok, the closest we got to exercise was walking the mall. I knew we needed to get back into working out, but we've been kind of dragging our feet. Luckily, there's nothing like watching a marathon for a little motivation. Last weekend we went to Orlando to cheer on Amber in the Disney marathon, and she did awesome! She picked up her pace towards the end of the 26.2 miles and even looked like she could have gone farther! It was quite high tech- we got text messages as she crossed various points along the race. My mom even tracked her progress online as she ran!
It's hard not to be inspired after watching a marathon, and I admit I was momentarily tempted when my friend Krisita signed up for a half-marathon in March. But....then I ran my 3 miles and immediately remembered that I have no desire to run any farther. Instead we joined the YMCA, and already I'm so glad we did. I really like using the elliptical machine, and yesterday I took a kickboxing class that kicked my butt. Thanks, Amber, for inspiring us to get moving again. We're so proud of you!

I don't know who had a tougher task...Amber running 26.2 miles, or me trying to take her picture while cheering and jumping up and down. It's a toss up I think. I not actually sure that we even connected on this high five. Somewhere around mile 12.
Almost to the finish line!
This was a great place to watch from, because it was right where the runners came around the corner and could first spot the finish line. It was really cool to watch them realize that they were almost there.
