Big internship news!

Finally, we know where we're going to be for the duration of Stewart's pharmacy program!  He has been assigned to Tallahasse for his 10-months of rotations, starting in May of next year.  We'll probably stay in our current apartment complex, but are considering downsizing to a one-bedroom apartment to save some money.  I have mixed emotions about his assignment.  On one hand, it will be convenient for us to just stay here in town, and hopefully I can stay in my same job next year (pray for no more education budget cuts!)  On the other hand, I was looking forward to saying "sayonara" to Tallahassee.  Either way I look at it, it brings us one step closer to the end of pharmacy school, and you know that brings a smile to my face!  I feel like we're nearing the home stretch!

Greek Festival '08

Had a good time at the Greek Festival with Brian and Krisita last weekend.  I was glad to have friends to go with, since for the third year in a row Stewart had to study.

And the rain came down...

Well, Tropical Storm Fay sure threw everybody for a loop around here.  School was cancelled on Friday, and it rained nonstop from about 1pm on Friday through Saturday night.  On the way to church Sunday morning we had to take a detour because a section of a major road had caved in.  The number of trees down and amount of standing water is impressive.

Lunch and a movie....literally

This past weekend we were out running errands when we started to get hungry, so we decided to try a place we had not been to before, the Dew Drop In Cafe. We have had some of their baked goods and breakfast dishes at the Saturday morning Downtown Marketplace, but we had never been to the cafe before. There was no parking out front, so we had to park at the Video 21 store, which we had both assumed was an adult-only video store but turned out to be a regular family video rental store. How did we find out this fact? Because once we got inside the cafe and found seats at the one counter, we realized that the cafe was INSIDE the video store. It was like someone took your grandmother's kitchen and just plopped in into your local mom-and-pop video store! The owner was a friendly older gentleman who claimed that the cafe had a good reputation because he doesn't spend much time there. We split a sandwich, but almost everyone else ordered big Belgian waffles loaded up with "straw and cream". I resisted those (because I had strawberry overload from the cupcakes) but we're already planning our return to this unique and quirky little place.
